Jared Smith-Valentine emphasizes that the reason people don’t talk about sex is that they don’t feel safe or able to; however, it has been shown there are psychological healing benefits to talking about sex. He said, “if sex is part of the problem, it’s part of the solution too.” Jared believes this is one of the main benefits members on Jasmin receive — “the unconditional positive regard” that models provide. Jared shares that whenever models listen more and meet a member’s needs with enthusiasm or non-judgment, they are providing this benefit, and it can be deeply healing. Jared also sees and discusses the potential for LiveJasmin to partner with therapists and work together for “sexual surrogate” experiences needed by clients. He says that “Sexual health is part of our overall health, and therefore, sex work is a part of sexual health care as people are healing in these experiences.”
